‘Personal and Economic Freedom’ was the latest, in our series of discussions featuring Professor Sirimal Abeyrathne ( Professor of Economics at the University of Colombo) and Mr. Chinthana Dharmadasa (film director, film critic, author, and screenwriter) as panelists and Dhananath Fernando (COO, Advocata Institute) as moderator.
Our second virtual discussion conducted in Sinhala analyzed the extent to which both freedoms were protected in Sri Lanka with the speakers elaborating on the causes and implications of the current political and economic situation we are in. The panelists expressed their views on import restrictions, individualism, capitalism, globalization, the impact of British influence on Sri Lankan culture, and more.
